disguise’s gx range drives content for Call of Duty World League Championship in London.

When GFinity held the Call of Duty World League (CWL) championships at the Copper Box Arena in London last spring Creative Technology (CT) selected disguise gx 2 media servers to drive the big-screen content.

The high-profile esports event featured the best players in the world competing live on PlayStation4 systems running ‘Call of Duty: Black Ops 4’ from developers Treyarch Studios.  “We were charged with supplying large LED displays and projection to enhance spectator viewing within the venue,” says Paul Seeger, Project Manager with CT. “The robust system design was engineered to bring the audience closer to the action and deliver an exciting experience to audiences at home and within the venue.”

Creative Technology chose disguise gx 2 media servers for the project “due to their ability to handle high volumes of content and distribution. disguise systems have a reputation for being robust and reliable.”

In the Amateur Stage area three 6 x 3-meter front projection screens displayed video content shared via a disguise gx 2 and Barco screen management system.

In the Main Stage area an Absen LED screen showing gameplay was positioned in the center of the stage flanked by two additional LED screens. A front projection screen, which was flown, displayed game information, ranking and statistics, as well as additional LED screens which were located in front of the player desks showing players’ faces during the competition. The disguise gx 2 drove all this content as well.

“All of us on the project were very happy with how the event ran and very pleased with how the disguise media servers performed. The beauty of using the gx 2 for this type of event means that it has the power to handle real-time content which is vital for esports productions when the video is responsive to what happens at the event.”
